Carl Hansen & Søn
Carl Hansen & Søn is passionate about craftsmanship and is proud to showcase over a century's worth of Danish design classics. Founded in 1908 by Danish cabinetmaker Carl Hansen, to this day the brand remains faithful to its design philosophy of producing sustainable furniture of enduring beauty.
Operating today as a third-generation family business, Carl Hansen opened his original furniture workshop in Odense, Denmark and soon became renowned for the exceptional quality of his bespoke pieces. As the company grew, Carl Hansen & Søn began to produce smaller series of its most popular designs, combining traditional woodworking techniques with innovations in contemporary technology to produce enduring furniture of lasting value.
Carl Hansen & Søn remains the largest manufacturer of furniture designed by Hans J. Wegner and continually develops its impressive portfolio by gathering iconic furniture classics and working in collaboration with some of the industry’s most celebrated designers, including Morten Gøttler and Ole Wanscher. Today, Carl Hansen & Son is led by Knud Erik Hansen, grandson of the founder, and led with his same respect and passion for craftsmanship.
Exclusive CH24 Wishbone Chair in Oak & Walnut
Exclusively available at The Conran Shop and first designed by Hans J. Wegner in 1949, the Wishbone Chair has been reimagined by Carl Hansen & Søn in an oak and walnut finish.
While exploring its prototype archives, Carl Hansen & Søn came across this rare interpretation of the Wishbone Chair and consulted The Conran Shop, who selected it for exclusive production.
Inspired by a portrait of Danish merchants sitting in traditional Ming chairs, this original design showcases the ergonomic sensibility that defines an antique Chinese chair. With its steam-bent walnut top rail and wonderfully sculptural shape, the lightweight Wishbone Chair allows for freedom of movement and superior comfort, making it an ideal piece for both work and relaxation spaces.
